Loving Open Sincere True

Although Facebook and other social networking have been around, I don’t know why I was reluctant to join in. I spend an average of six hours a day in the web, reading blogs, emails, listserves, and visiting various sites. Compare in the mid 90s, I spend less hours these days, then, sometimes i stayed 10 to 14 hours in the various chatrooms of AOL especially after AOL lifted its per minute rates.

Becoming a teacher, educator or academician is not one of my childhood dreams. And yet, before I moved to the United States, perhaps even until now, I was well-known among friends and in many circles in the peoples’ movement in the Philippines as an educator and pop-ed practitioner.

If we could write a
Symphony for Susan
We would write a melody
That would tell her
Create a spell for her
Ring a bell for her
And let her know
How much we fell for her

This is not a laughing matter. This is not even my usual note or two. This is supposed to be a press release or public service announcement about a pivotal program which we at the Bayanihan Community Center are about to launch.

How do you respond to a FB posting “what do you do when your ex-boyfriend of 8 years/ex-fiancée cheats on you? You have to take a trip to Women’s Health Specialists.”

Tulad ng naisulat ko, ako ang may bertdey ako dapat ang mamimigay at magpapakain. Birthday ko, blow-out ko ika nga. Hindi lamang iyon, ika-14 wedding anniversary ko kahapon (May 21). Sa tradisyon ng kasalan, kayo naman ang magre-regalo sa amin. Patas lang di ba?

May kasabihan na ang ina ay siyang ilaw ng isang tahanan. Siya rin ang tinuturing na aligi at bubong ng tahanan. Sa ina nakasalalay ang mahahalagang bagay sa pagsustena ng buhay mag-anak. Kaya’t ang bawat tahanan ay may tanging-ina, Natatangi siya sa lahat.

I am happy to state that it’s Ed dela Torre’s blogs that inspire me to write my own blogs. Hindi ito gaya-gaya, just a fad, or that I have nothing else to do here in the US of America.
